Representatives from Israel’s welfare office and various non-profits that deal with food insecurity were present during an open discussion that was recently held to discuss ideas on different ways to fight poverty in Israel. One of the major issues raised was the difficulties in acquiring government funding for non-profit organizations.
Meir Panim applauded the Knesset’s decision to dedicate a day to this worthy cause. Meir Panim hopes that by next year’s “Fight Against Poverty” Day in 2011, the plight of the needy in Israel will be alleviated significantly.
