Meir Panim Update
Update: Operation Protective Edge & Meir Panim
January 1, 1970

Meir Panim is continuing to provide food and other services to the needy in Israel, including those affected by the violence. Meir Panim has increased its production of hot meals to be delivered to shelters in the south of Israel and to the brave reservists being mobilized.

In the earliest days of Operation Protective Edge, Meir Panim delivered more 2,000 care packages, containing food and toiletries, to soldiers stationed along the Gaza border.

Since then, a baking drive at Meir Panim’s Dimona branch produced delicious homemade treats that showed our soldiers just how much we appreciate them.

Another drive, coordinated by Meir Panim’s Or Akiva branch, collected clothing, treats, and personal hygiene products that were much appreciated by the soldiers at the front.

As public gatherings, including summer camp activities, within a 40 km radius of Gaza have been suspended, Meir Panim is distributing “Keeping Busy” packages to families in the affected areas. The packages contain crayons, coloring books, games and toys to keep children occupied and to lift their morale.

Day trips are being planned for the children of Meir Panim’s after-school clubs to provide a semblance of a normal summer vacation. At the end of the day, “Keeping Busy” packages and packaged meals will be distributed for the children to bring home.

Meir Panim’s Dimona branch was forced to close earlier this week due to its location in close range of rocket fire from Gaza. Nissim, the dedicated branch manager, has organized a team of volunteers to cook, package and deliver meals to the needy in their homes and in shelters.

Meir Panim will continue to provide emergency food and other critical support during this crisis.

A special thank you to the dedicated staff and volunteers who are going above and beyond! Please join them in their efforts to provide relief to the poor, the hungry, and those under fire.
