Meals on Wheels

Even with five branches across Israel, many of Israel’s neediest are unable to travel to our free Restaurant-Style Soup Kitchens. That is why Meir Panim’s Meals-on-Wheels program brings food directly to the homes of those who need it most.

Our Solution

Meir Panim’s dedicated staff and volunteers take our food on the road so that no one goes hungry, no matter their situation. This is the vision of the Meals-on-Wheels program.

How We Are Making a Difference

Meir Panim is there to help all who need our assistance, regardless of their situation. That is why we work closely with Israel’s Department of Social Welfare and local municipalities in operating our Meals-on-Wheels program.

Our staff and volunteers collaborate with government entities to identify those who require our services, and bring nutritious meals straight to the homes of Israel’s poor and needy. However, our work does not end there. We also deliver basic necessities as well such as furniture, heaters, and clothing, as well as small home repairs as needed.
Most importantly, the Meals-on-Wheels program “Brightens the Faces” of the homebound, destitute, and elderly. We not only see to their physical wellbeing but their emotional needs as well. And that makes all the difference.

Seeing the sweet volunteers from Meir Panim at my door is the highlight of my week… They really brighten my life.

Meir Panim is helping me so much! I was too embarrassed to go to the soup kitchen. Thank G-d these kind people are here to help.

EMOTIONAL WELLBEING
Our volunteers' warm smiles and bright faces give the homebound a vital connection to the outside world. For some, our Meals-on-Wheels deliveries are the only break from the loneliness they would otherwise suffer from each day.
PANTRY ITEMS
Meir Panim’s incredible volunteers work day and night to deliver quality food to Israel’s homebound poor and elderly. We do not just deliver meals, we also deliver pantry items and ingredients so that our recipients who have dietary restrictions or preferences can cook for themselves.
Physical Health
Because of their regular contact with the elderly and homebound, our volunteers can keep a watchful eye on our homebound friends.  Enabling Meir Panim’s staff and volunteers to report any illness, request a social worker or medical personnel as needed.
Security
With the assistance we provide through Meals-on-Wheels, Israel’s most vulnerable citizens are assured that, despite their physical capabilities or what is going on outside, they can remain safe and well-fed, at home.
