Meir Panim’s Dimona branch is a large complex with many different daily activities, making it the perfect location for larger groups to volunteer; attracting school groups, company team building days, and volunteers from the local community and around the world.
On any given day in our Dimona branch, we serve hundreds of meals, whether that be through dine-in, takeout, or Meals-on-Wheels. We have children coming for nourishing meals and enriching activities in our after-school program and host a wonderful community of Holocaust Survivors so they can enjoy a new lease on life. More recently, the branch became a second home to a group of 50 Ukrainian refugees who have settled in the neighborhood.
This summer, we have had weekly visits from a very special group coordinated through the SodaStream company, headquartered in the local area. The company, realizing the strain on parents- their employees- to keep their kids busy and engaged over the summer, coordinated a summer camp that enabled parents to get to work worry-free, without the burden of expensive private camps, and the comfort that the company cares about them and their families well being.
Each week, as a part of this program, kids of SodaStream employees from all backgrounds and religions, came into our Dimona branch and volunteered, meeting our patrons, lending a hand, and having a good time together.
These young adults came in with incredible energy and took on so many tasks around our complex- sorting and packaging produce, serving meals, visiting and playing games with our Holocaust Survivors, cooking in our kitchen, and sprucing up our center with a fresh coat of paint.
In the final week of the program, the parents even joined- given the morning to give back, bond with their kids and fellow employees, and see Meir Panim Dimona for themselves.
We are so grateful to be a partner in this project and can’t wait for the Soda Stream team to return next summer!
