Meir Panim Update
Pre- Shavuot Lunch and Learn in Jerusalem
June 5, 2019

How much does it cost to bake a cheesecake?

This is the question, director of global development for Meir Panim, Mimi Rozmaryn posed to our group of motivated student volunteers, during the “learn” portion of today’s Shavuot Lunch and Learn.

Our volunteers expertly prepared for the lunch crowds helped served lunch, socialized with our lunch patrons and squeezed in time for a little Shavuot learning.

Our volunteers learned that cheesecake can be very pricey, in fact, holidays are especially challenging to thousands of struggling Israeli families. In the upcoming days, before Shavuot, Meir Panim will be providing prepaid food shopping cards and food boxes to thousands of needy families. Not only is there an urgent need each day to feed hungry Israelis through our Restaurant-Style Soup Kitchens, but we also try to give impoverished families more festive holiday celebrations.

Are you visiting Israel this summer? We hope that you will come volunteer at one of Meir Panim’s restaurant style soup kitchens, located across Israel.
