The Meor students along with their leader Rabbi Shmuel Lynn, washed and peeled approximately 25 kilograms (55 Ibs.) of vegetables ranging from potatoes to radishes that became a delicious soup, salad and side dish of cooked vegetables that were served at the next day’s meal.
Dressed in red Meir Panim aprons, the MEOR volunteers had a wonderful time preparing food and giving back to the community. After the experience, one volunteer said, “I was shocked to learn about the high numbers of poverty rates in Israel.” According to Rabbi Lynn, the volunteers left the restaurant with a real appreciation for the food they eat daily and felt truly blessed that they don’t go to sleep hungry every night.
