During the month of July, the children received two nutritious meals a day, participated in fun activities such as swimming, arts and crafts, sports and music, as well as special classes in wilderness survival and archeology. On occasion, the children were surprised with carnivals that included magicians, moonwalks and cotton candy!
Thanks to an anonymous generous donor, the children enrolled at the Kiryat Gat summer camp where given a special day trip to visit Super Land!
The outing included going bowling, eating lunch at McDonald’s and watching a movie at Cinema City in 3D. Grateful for the experience, one fifth-grade camper said, “I’ve always wanted to go to Super Land, like the rest of my friends! Thank you Meir Panim for a great day!”
Meir Panim summer camp is not just a positive experience for the campers, counselors who volunteer also benefit from the meaningful time spent with the children. “It is a lot fun, but difficult work,“ said one camp counselor. “It is very important for these kids to go to camp because without a place to go to everyday, they would be sitting at home alone or wandering the streets. Here they get love and attention, which they don’t necessarily get at home.”
This summer, Meir Panim summer camps were offered in Jerusalem, Or Akiva, Dimona, Yerucham, Kiryat Gat, Acco and Kiryat Melachi throughout the month of July from 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. daily.
