Meir Panim Update
Meir Panim Tzfat; More than a Meal
September 14, 2022

Meir Panim’s Tzfat Restaurant-Style Soup Kitchen provides hundreds of local individuals and families with hot, nutritious meals daily, but the branch strives to do more, serving as a community center even outside its standard operating hours.

One recent example was its annual eye exam and glasses event. With Israel’s universal healthcare, citizens can receive eye exams and a selection of free lenses and frames. However, scheduling, getting to the appointments, and finding a provider can be a challenge, especially in the urban Tzfat area with many hills and mountains.

Once a year, after its lunch service, Meir Panim Tzfat transforms into a full-service optical center. A licensed professional is on hand to provide exams, to check patients’ current eye health, and comes with a large selection of free frames for anyone to come and choose.

Locals in Tzfat, even those who aren’t in regular need of Meir Panim’s services, come to this event annually to take advantage of this wonderful opportunity and community health service, and sometimes, even end up as volunteers.

As with all of our branches across the country, Meir Panim Tzfat is delighted to provide value-added community services, not only for our regular patrons but also for anyone who can use a helping hand. With our key partnerships, Meir Panim can improve the lives of all Tzfat residents, one person and one opportunity at a time.
