Meir Panim’s Restaurant-Style Soup Kitchen in Tzfat recently hosted a very special evening gathering to honor Holocaust survivors.
The event was in partnership with the L’Chaim Foundation, which works to support and care for Israel’s Holocaust survivors and ensure they live their final days with the full resources and warm embrace of the Jewish community.
The evening featured a gathering of Holocaust survivors in the Tzfat area joined by students of a Mechina program (Israeli Gap Year and Army Preparation). As Benny Elgad, the Tzefat Branch Manager shared, the evening’s goal was two-sided – to expose the youth personally to the survivors so that their stories and faces may live on through another generation, and also to create an opportunity for the survivors to feel supported and strengthened by the community.
About half of the participating elderly regularly visit Meir Panim’s Restaurant-Style Soup Kitchen and were happy to have an additional opportunity to join together. The entire group expressed delight at meeting and connecting with the next generation of Israel’s leaders.
Meir Panim is grateful for the ability to serve the community and provide opportunities to enrich our clients’ lives, and we thank the L’Chaim Foundation for reaching out to us to sponsor this meaningful event.
