As Passover approaches, Meir Panim’s branches across the country are busy preparing for one of the most celebrated Jewish holidays.
Ever since the outbreak of COVID-19, holiday preparations have changed dramatically for our Restaurant-Style Soup Kitchens, and this Passover is no different. However, our staff continues to rise to the occasion and overcome the challenges.
Since hosting our communal seders was not an option, tens of thousands of meals were prepared and packaged for delivery in our Meals-on-Wheels trucks to help avoid large crowds from gathering for pick-up and to ensure that high-risk populations like the elderly receive their holiday meals too.
While COVID-19 has presented many logistical challenges for Meir Panim, it’s nothing compared to the nightmare that families suddenly faced with no income. That’s why Meir Panim has done everything in its power to not just keep up with our “regular” clients, but to increase our capacity to meet the needs of those who have fallen on hard times.
This year, thanks to our incredible supporters from around the world, Meir Panim was able to give so much to those in need this holiday.
Over 15,000 home-cooked Seder meals were provided to the elderly, struggling families, and anyone else in need.
Over 10,000 pantry boxes were delivered to ensure that every Israeli has a fully stocked cupboard throughout the holiday.
And last but not least, over $150,000 in pre-paid grocery shopping cards were distributed to the needy to ensure that everyone has the things they need to enjoy the holiday!
Meir Panim wishes everyone a Happy Passover.
