Meir Panim Update
Food Packages for the Elderly and Holocaust Survivors
January 1, 1970

The packages will also be distributed in local senior clubs in cooperation with the municipal welfare departments.

Thousands of Holocaust survivors in Israel live in poverty and difficult circumstances, lacking joy and dignity in their old age. With the generous help of the Claims Committee and its representative in Israel, Mr. Avraham Pressler, Meir Panim tries to ease this distress. Thousands of survivors receive daily hot meals in Meir Panim’s soup kitchens and in addition, thousands of meals are home-delivered by volunteers who visit the survivors and check on their welfare. In the framework of the “Warm Winter” project, Meir Panim-Power of Giving, together with the Russian Jewish Federation, distributed thousands of heaters and warm blankets which helped to protect them from the winter chill.

Before Passover, each survivor will receive a generous food package to make the holiday more pleasurable for them.
