An experience to remember – Becoming a Bat Mitzvah elbow deep in Israeli salad!
January 1, 1970

On Thursday, April 12, Jenna, her siblings and her parents woke up early in the morning to travel to Kiryat Malachi to prepare hot lunches for needy children in Kiryat Malachi. Elbow deep in Israeli salad, Jenna became a Bat Mitzvah – a doer of good deeds – and as the Kershenbaums say: “The rest is just….gravy”.

Jenna and her family were joined by the Kalker family, another family intent on helping those less fortunate than themselves. In addition to scooping out couscous and the requisite vegetables, the Kalker and the Kershenbaums were treated to an inside look at the Netzach Yisrael mitzvah store. The mitzvah store operates on a unique monetary system – mitzvahs for goods. Children purchase school uniforms, school supplies, snacks and toys by doing good deeds around the school. Sorry, no checks or money orders accepted!
