Meir Panim Update
A New Season at Meir Panim
November 2, 2022

Throughout Israel, and of course at Meir Panim branches as well, the summer season has come to a close with the conclusion of the Holidays. There is a new chill in the air and even some rain, school children have full weeks in the classroom and the buzz of routine has returned.

Despite an insanely busy month distributing over 50,000 meals, Meir Panim’s staff and volunteers never slow down and following the holidays, have come back with renewed energy and enthusiasm to be a helping hand to our communities. Especially with the rising cost of groceries and overall inflation hitting Israel’s most vulnerable citizens, Meir Panim is prepared to support our patrons so they do not have to choose between buying food and their medications, utility bills, or rent.

As Reuters recently reported, “Israel’s annual consumer price index (CPI) rose to a higher than expected rate of 5.2% in July, the most since October 2008 and following a 4.4% rate in June, as more aggressive interest rate hikes loom and keep the soaring cost of living centre stage ahead of an election in November”. With data like this in mind, Meir Panim’s work is more relevant and needed than ever before.

Our branches are also ready to provide a warm shelter from the cold and rainy season, of course, paired with a big smile, and a warm, nutritious meal.
