Meir Panim’s Holocaust Survivor Day Center is a very special project which takes place in our Dimona branch. Caring for a group of Holocaust survivors daily, and providing them with the opportunity to age in place and in a community, allows Meir Panim to alleviate years of trauma and stress that they faced in their early years. Dimona, located in the Negev desert in the South of Israel is quite hot this time of year, and to celebrate the start of summer and cool off from the heat, our participants were treated to a day out at a local pool club.
The survivors’ health and wellness are our number one priority and allowing them to get out for fun and safe excursions truly brighten’s their day and ours, especially following the years of restrictions and lockdowns due to Covid.
Enjoying a day at the pool club, complete with a water aerobic class and time to relax, was a wonderful change of scenery in an environment with all of the staff and volunteers to ensure their safety and sense of community.
This special outing was a day that our participants will remember for a long time, and we will remember their smiles and the joy they had together.
